The oracle concerning the valley of vision. What has happened that you have gone up, all of you, to the housetops,


the one on the housetop must not go down to take things from the house;


Therefore whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered behind closed doors will be proclaimed from the housetops.


He said, “To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of God, but to others I speak in parables, so that ‘looking they may not perceive and hearing they may not understand.’


“I have said these things to you to keep you from falling away.


When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own but will speak whatever he hears, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.


“I have said these things to you in figures of speech. The hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figures but will tell you plainly of the Father.


His disciples said, “Yes, now you are speaking plainly, not in any figure of speech!


So he argued in the synagogue with the Jews and the devout persons and also in the marketplace every day with those who happened to be there.


“Go, stand in the temple and tell the people the whole message about this life.”


saying, “We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name, yet here you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and you are determined to bring this man’s blood on us.”


Since, then, we have such a hope, we act with complete frankness,
