And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up the mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone,
Then Jesus went with them to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to his disciples, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.”
He was praying in a certain place, and after he had finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.”
Now when all the people were baptized and when Jesus also had been baptized and was praying, the heaven was opened,
Now during those days he went out to the mountain to pray, and he spent the night in prayer to God.
They answered, “John the Baptist; but others, Elijah; and still others, that one of the ancient prophets has arisen.”
Now about eight days after these sayings Jesus took with him Peter and John and James and went up on the mountain to pray.
And while he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning.
