he took away the treasures of the house of the Lord and the treasures of the king’s house; he took everything. He also took away all the shields of gold that Solomon had made,


Then the priest Jehoiada took a chest, made a hole in its lid, and set it beside the altar on the right side as one entered the house of the Lord; the priests who guarded the threshold put in it all the silver that was brought into the house of the Lord.


He carried off all the treasures of the house of the Lord and the treasures of the king’s house; he cut in pieces all the vessels of gold in the temple of the Lord that King Solomon of Israel had made, all this as the Lord had foretold.


All the vessels of the house of God, large and small, and the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the treasures of the king and of his officials, all these he brought to Babylon.


And I appointed as treasurers over the treasuries Shelemiah the priest, Zadok the scribe, and Pedaiah of the Levites, and as their assistant Hanan son of Zaccur son of Mattaniah, for they were considered faithful, and their duty was to distribute to their associates.


But the chief priests, taking the pieces of silver, said, “It is not lawful to put them into the treasury, since they are blood money.”


They devour widows’ houses and for the sake of appearance say long prayers. They will receive the greater condemnation.”


He spoke these words while he was teaching in the treasury of the temple, but no one arrested him, because his hour had not yet come.


But all silver and gold and vessels of bronze and iron are sacred to the Lord; they shall go into the treasury of the Lord.”


They burned down the city and everything in it; only the silver and gold and the vessels of bronze and iron they put into the treasury of the house of the Lord.
