(Pharaoh king of Egypt had gone up and captured Gezer and burned it down, had killed the Canaanites who lived in the city, and had given it as dowry to his daughter, Solomon’s wife;
their descendants who were still left in the land, whom the Israelites were unable to destroy completely—these Solomon conscripted for slave labor, and so they are to this day.

Then King Horam of Gezer came up to help Lachish, and Joshua struck him and his people, leaving him no survivors.

together with the towns that were set apart for the Ephraimites within the inheritance of the Manassites, all those towns with their villages.
Yet the Manassites could not take possession of those towns, but the Canaanites continued to live in that land.
But when the Israelites grew strong, they put the Canaanites to forced labor but did not utterly drive them out.
And Ephraim did not drive out the Canaanites who lived in Gezer, but the Canaanites lived among them in Gezer.
