Then the king said, “What honor or distinction has been bestowed on Mordecai for this?” The king’s servants who attended him said, “Nothing has been done for him.”


My relatives and my close friends have failed me;


until what he had said came to pass, the word of the Lord kept testing him.


I have passed out of mind like one who is dead; I have become like a broken vessel.


For I hear the whispering of many— terror all around!— as they scheme together against me, as they plot to take my life.
