The king said, “If anyone says anything to you, bring him to me, and he shall never touch you again.”


Then the king said to the woman, “Go to your house, and I will give orders concerning you.”


So shall their blood come back on the head of Joab and on the head of his descendants forever, but to David, and to his descendants, and to his house, and to his throne there shall be peace from the Lord forevermore.”


You shall not pollute the land in which you live, for blood pollutes the land, and no expiation can be made for the land for the blood that is shed in it, except by the blood of the one who shed it.


Then the people as a whole answered, “His blood be on us and on our children!”


She fell at his feet and said, “Upon me alone, my lord, be the guilt; please let your servant speak in your ears and hear the words of your servant.
