2 Kings 10 - The Scriptures 1998

¹ And Aḥ

² And now, when this letter comes to you, since your master’s sons are with you, and you have chariots and horses, and a walled city, and weapons,

³ choose the best and most upright of your master’s sons, and set him on his father’s throne, and fight for your master’s house.

⁴ And they were greatly afraid, and said, “Look, two sovereigns have not stood before him, how do we stand, we?”

⁵ And he who was over the house, and he who was over the city, the elders also, and the guardians, sent to Yĕ

⁶ And he wrote a second letter to them, saying, If you are for me, and if you obey my voice, take the heads of the men, your master’s sons, and come to me at Yizreʽ

⁷ And it came to be, when the letter came to them, that they took the sovereign’s sons and slaughtered them, seventy men, and put their heads in baskets and sent them to him at Yizreʽ

⁸ Then a messenger came and informed him, saying, “They have brought the heads of the sovereign’s sons.” And he said, “Make them two heaps at the entrance of the gate until morning.”

⁹ And it came to be, in the morning, that he went out and stood, and said to all the people, “You are righteous. Look, I conspired against my master and slew him, but who smote all these?

¹⁰ “Know now that not one word of יהוה  which יהוה  spoke concerning the house of Aḥ

¹¹ And Yĕ

¹² And he rose up to go, and went to Shomeron. On the way, at Bĕ

¹³ Yĕ

¹⁴ And he said, “Take them alive!” So they took them alive, and slew them at the well of Bĕ

¹⁵ And he left there and met Yehonaḏ

¹⁶ And he said, “Come with me, and see my ardour for יהוה.” And they made him ride in his chariot.

¹⁷ And he came to Shomeron, and smote all those left of Aḥ

¹⁸ And Yĕ

¹⁹ “And now, call to me all the prophets of Baʽ

²⁰ And Yĕ

²¹ And Yĕ

²² And he said to him who was over the wardrobe, “Bring out garments for all the servants of Baʽ

²³ And Yĕ

²⁴ So they went in to make offerings and burnt offerings. Now Yĕ

²⁵ And it came to be, when he had finished making the burnt offering, Yĕ

²⁶ and brought out the pillars of the house of Baʽ

²⁷ and broke down the statue of Baʽ

²⁸ Thus Yĕ

²⁹ However, Yĕ

³⁰ And יהוה  said to Yĕ

³¹ But Yĕ

³² In those days יהוה  began to cut off some in Yisra’ĕ

³³ from the Yardĕ

³⁴ And the rest of the acts of Yĕ

³⁵ So Yĕ

³⁶ And the days that Yĕ
