¹ And the men of Qiryath Yeʽ

² And it came to be, from the day that the ark remained in Qiryath Yeʽ

³ And Shemu’ĕ

⁴ And the children of Yisra’ĕ

⁵ And Shemu’ĕ

⁶ And they gathered to Mitspah and drew water, and poured it out before יהוה. And they fasted that day, and said there, “We have sinned against יהוה.” And Shemu’ĕ

⁷ And when the Philistines heard that the children of Yisra’ĕ

⁸ And the children of Yisra’ĕ

⁹ And Shemu’ĕ

¹⁰ And it came to be, as Shemu’ĕ

¹¹ And the men of Yisra’ĕ

¹² And Shemu’ĕ

¹³ Thus the Philistines were humbled, and no longer came into the border of Yisra’ĕ

¹⁴ And the cities which the Philistines had taken from Yisra’ĕ

¹⁵ And Shemu’ĕ

¹⁶ and each year he made the rounds of Bĕ

¹⁷ Then he returned to Ramah, for his home was there. And there he rightly ruled Yisra’ĕ
