Psalm 68 - Easy To Read Version

God, get up and scatter your enemies.\par May all of his enemies run from him.\par

May your enemies be scattered,\par like smoke blown away by the wind.\par May your enemies be destroyed,\par like wax melting in a fire.\par

But good people are happy.\par Good people have a happy time\par together with God.\par Good people enjoy themselves\par and are very happy!\par

Sing to God.\par Sing praises to his name.\par Prepare the way for God.\par He rides his chariot {\cf2\super [388]} over the desert.\par His name is YAH. {\cf2\super [389]} \par Praise his name!\par

In his holy temple,\par God is like a father to orphans. {\cf2\super [390]} \par God takes care of widows. {\cf2\super [391]} \par

God gives lonely people a home.\par God takes his people out of prison.\par They are very happy.\par But people who turn against God,\par will stay in their hot prison.\par

God, you led your people out \{of Egypt\}.\par You marched across the desert,\par

and the ground shook.\par \i (SELAH {\cf2\super [392]})\i0 \par

God, you sent the rain\par to make a tired, old land strong again.\par

Your animals came back to that land.\par God, you gave many good things\par to the poor people there.\par

God gave the command and many people went to tell the good news:\par

“The armies of powerful kings ran away!\par The women at home will divide the things\par that the soldiers bring from the battle.\par The people who stayed at home\par will share in the wealth.\par

They will get the dove wings\par covered with silver.\par They will get the wings\par sparkling with gold.”\par

On Mount Zalmon,\par God scattered the enemy kings.\par They were like falling snow.\par

Mount Bashan is a great mountain\par with many peaks.\par

Mount Bashan, why do you look down\par on Mount Zion?\par God loves that mountain (Zion).\par The Lord chose to live there forever.\par

The Lord comes to Holy Mount Zion.\par Behind him are millions of his chariots. {\cf2\super [393]} \par

He went up above \{on the high mountain\},\par leading a parade of captives;\par to take the gifts from men, {\cf2\super [394]} \par including the people\par who turned against him.\par The Lord {\cf2\super [395]} God \{went up there\} to live.\par

Praise the Lord!\par Every day he helps us\par with the loads we must carry.\par God saves us!\par \i (SELAH {\cf2\super [396]})\i0 \par

He is our God.\par He is the God that saves us.\par The Lord our God saves us from death.\par

God will show that he defeated his enemies.\par God will punish the people who\par fought against him. {\cf2\super [397]} \par

My Master said,\par “I’ll bring the enemy back from Bashan,\par I’ll bring the enemy from the west,\par

so you can walk in their blood,\par so your dogs can lick up their blood.”\par

See God leading the victory parade!\par See my Holy God, my King,\par leading the victory parade!\par

Singers come marching in front,\par followed by the musicians,\par surrounded by young girls\par playing tambourines.\par

Praise God in the meeting place! {\cf2\super [398]} \par Praise the Lord, people of Israel!\par

There is little Benjamin, leading them.\par And there is the great family of Judah.\par And there are the leaders of Zebulun and Naphtali.\par

God, show us your power!\par Show us the power you used for us\par in the past.\par

Kings will bring their wealth to you,\par to your palace in Jerusalem.\par

Use your stick to make those “animals”\par do what you want.\par Make the “bulls” and “cows” in those nations obey you.\par You defeated those nations in war.\par Now make them bring silver to you.\par

Make them bring wealth from Egypt.\par God, make the Ethiopians bring their wealth to you.\par

Kings on earth, sing to God!\par Sing songs of praise to our Master!\par \i (SELAH {\cf2\super [399]})\i0 \par

Sing to God!\par He rides his chariot through\par the ancient skies.\par Listen to his powerful voice!\par

God is more powerful than any of your gods.\par The God of Israel makes his people strong.\par

God is wonderful in his temple.\par The God of Israel gives strength and power to his people.\par Praise God!\par
