Psalm 137 - Easy To Read Version

Longing for Zion in a Foreign Land

1. We sat by the rivers in Babylon\par and cried as we remembered Zion. {\cf2\super [628]} \par

2. We hung our harps\par on the willow trees nearby. {\cf2\super [629]} \par

3. In Babylon, the people who captured us\par told us to sing.\par They told us to sing happy songs.\par They told us to sing songs about Zion. {\cf2\super [630]} \par

4. But we can’t sing the Lord’s songs\par in a foreign country!\par

5. Jerusalem, if I ever forget you,\par then I hope I never play a song again.\par

6. Jerusalem, if I ever forget you,\par then I hope I never sing again.\par I promise, I will never forget you.\par

7. I promise, Jerusalem will always be\par my greatest joy!\par

8. Babylon, you will be destroyed!\par Bless the man who gives you\par the punishment you should get.\par Bless the man who hurts you\par like you hurt us.\par

9. Bless the man who grabs your babies\par and smashes them against a rock.\par
