Job 9 - Easy To Read Version1 Then Job answered: 2 “Yes, I know what you say is true.\par But how can a man win an argument with God?\par 3 A person can’t argue with God!\par God could ask 1,000 questions and\par no person could answer even one!\par 4 God is very wise\par and his power is very great.\par No person can fight God and not be hurt.\par 5 God moves mountains when he is angry\par and they don’t even know it.\par 6 God sends earthquakes to shake the earth.\par God shakes the earth’s foundations.\par 7 God can speak to the sun,\par and make it not rise.\par He can lock up the stars,\par so they don’t shine.\par 8 God alone made the skies.\par He walks on the ocean waves.\par 9 “God made the Bear, Orion,\par and the Pleiades. {\cf2\super [17]} \par He made the planets that cross\par the southern sky. {\cf2\super [18]} \par 10 God does wonderful things\par that people can’t understand.\par There is no end to God’s great miracles.\par 11 When God goes past me,\par I can’t see him.\par When God goes by,\par I don't notice him.\par 12 If God takes something away,\par no one can stop him.\par No one can say to him,\par ‘What are you doing?’\par 13 God won’t hold his anger back.\par Even Rahab’s {\cf2\super [19]} helpers\par are afraid of God.\par 14 So I can’t argue with God.\par I wouldn’t know what to say to him.\par 15 I am innocent,\par but I can’t give him an answer.\par All I can do is beg my Judge (God)\par for mercy.\par 16 Even if I called and he answered,\par I still wouldn’t believe\par that he really would listen to me.\par 17 God would just send storms to crush me.\par He would just give me more wounds\par for no reason.\par 18 God would’t let me catch my breath again.\par He would just give me more trouble.\par 19 I can’t defeat God.\par God is too powerful!\par I can’t take God to court\par and force him to be fair to me.\par Who could force God to come to court?\par 20 I am innocent, but the things I say\par make me seem guilty.\par I am innocent, but if I speak\par my mouth proves me guilty.\par 21 I am innocent.\par But I don’t know what to think.\par I hate my own life.\par 22 I say to myself,\par ‘The same thing happens to everybody.\par Innocent people die just like the guilty.\par God ends all their lives.’\par 23 When something terrible happens\par and an innocent person is killed,\par does God just laugh at him?\par 24 When an evil man takes control of a land,\par does God keep the leaders\par from seeing what is happening?\par If that is true,\par then who is God anyway?\par 25 “My days go faster than a runner.\par My days fly away and there is\par no happiness in them.\par 26 My days go by quickly\par like the papyrus {\cf2\super [20]} boats.\par My days go by as fast as eagles\par swooping down to catch an animal.\par 27 “If I say,\par ‘I won’t complain.\par I will forget my pain,\par I will put a smile on my face.’\par 28 It doesn’t really change anything.\par The suffering still scares me!\par 29 I am already judged guilty.\par So why should I keep trying?\par I say, ‘Forget it!’\par 30 Even if I wash myself with snow\par and make my hands clean with soap,\par 31 God will still push me into the slime pit. {\cf2\super [21]} \par Then even my clothes will hate me.\par 32 God is not a man like me.\par That is why I can’t answer him.\par We can’t meet each other in court.\par 33 I wish there were someone\par to listen to both sides. {\cf2\super [22]} \par I wish there were someone\par to judge both of us in a fair way.\par 34 I wish there were someone to take God’s\par punishing stick away.\par Then God would not scare me any more.\par 35 Then I could say what I want to say\par without being afraid of God.\par |
