¹ 0 He that believeth in the Son of God, hath the testimony of God in himself. He that believeth not the Son, maketh him a liar: because he believeth not in the testimony which God hath testified of his Son.

² 1 And this is the testimony, that God hath given to us eternal life. And this life is in his Son.

³ 2 He that hath the Son, hath life. He that hath not the Son, hath not life.

⁴ 3 These things I write to you, that you may know that you have eternal life, you who believe in the name of the Son of God.

⁵ 4 And this is the confidence which we have towards him: That, whatsoever we shall ask according to his will, he heareth us.

⁶ 5 And we know that he heareth us whatsoever we ask: we know that we have the petitions which we request of him.

⁷ 6 He that knoweth his brother to sin a sin which is not to death, let him ask, and life shall be given to him, who sinneth not to death. There is a sin unto death: for that I say not that any man ask.

⁸ 7 All iniquity is sin. And there is a sin unto death.

⁹ 8 We know that whosoever is born of God, sinneth not: but the generation of God preserveth him, and the wicked one toucheth him not.

¹⁰ 9 We know that we are of God, and the whole world is seated in wickedness.

¹¹ 0 And we know that the Son of God is come: and he hath given us understanding that we may know the true God, and may be in his true Son. This is the true God and life eternal.

¹² 1 Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.

¹³ The ancient to the lady Elect, and her children, whom I love in the truth, and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth,

¹⁴ For the sake of the truth which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever.

¹⁵ Grace be with you, mercy, and peace from God the Father, and from Christ Jesus the Son of the Father; in truth and charity.

¹⁶ I was exceeding glad, that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.

¹⁷ And now I beseech thee, lady, not as writing a new commandment to thee, but that which we have had from the beginning, that we love one another.

¹⁸ And this is charity, that we walk according to his commandments. For this is the commandment, that, as you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in the same:

¹⁹ For many seducers are gone out into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh: this is a seducer and an antichrist.

²⁰ Look to yourselves, that you lose not the things which you have wrought: but that you may receive a full reward.

²¹ Whosoever revolteth, and continueth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that continueth in the doctrine, the same hath both the Father and the Son.
