Song of Solomon 1 - American Standard Version 2015

The Song of songs, which is Solomon's.\par

Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth;\par\tab For thy love is better than wine.

Thine oils have a goodly fragrance;\par\tab Thy name is {\i as} oil poured forth;\par\tab Therefore do the virgins love thee.

Draw me; we will run after thee:\par\tab The king hath brought me into his chambers;\par\tab We will be glad and rejoice in thee;\par\tab We will make mention of thy love more than of wine:\par\tab Rightly do they love thee.\par

I am black, but comely,\par\tab Oh ye daughters of Jerusalem,\par\tab As the tents of Kedar,\par\tab As the curtains of Solomon.

Look not upon me, because I am swarthy,\par\tab Because the sun hath scorched me.\par\tab My mother's sons were incensed against me;\par\tab They made me keeper of the vineyards;\par\tab {\i But} mine own vineyard have I not kept.

Tell me, O thou whom my soul loveth,\par\tab Where thou feedest {\i thy flock},\par\tab Where thou makest {\i it} to rest at noon:\par\tab For why should I be as one that is veiled\par\tab Beside the flocks of thy companions?\par

If thou know not, O thou fairest among women,\par\tab Go thy way forth by the footsteps of the flock,\par\tab And feed thy kids beside the shepherds' tents.\par

I have compared thee, O my love,\par\tab To a steed in Pharaoh's chariots.

Thy cheeks are comely with plaits {\i of hair},\par\tab Thy neck with strings of jewels.

We will make thee plaits of gold\par\tab With studs of silver.\par

While the king sat at his table,\par\tab My spikenard sent forth its fragrance.

My beloved is unto me {\i as} a bundle of myrrh,\par\tab That lieth betwixt my breasts.

My beloved is unto me {\i as} a cluster of henna-flowers\par\tab In the vineyards of En-gedi.

Behold, thou art fair, my love;\par\tab Behold thou art fair;\par\tab Thine eyes are {\i as} doves.

Behold, thou art fair, my beloved, yea, pleasant:\par\tab Also our couch is green.

The beams of our house are cedars,\par\tab {\i And} our rafters are firs.\par
