PRIVACY POLICY OF THE "VERSELINKER" PLUGIN

At Bibliatodo.com ("we," "our," or "us"), we are committed to protecting the privacy of users of our "VerseLinker" plugin for WordPress ("the Plugin"). This Privacy Policy explains how the Plugin handles information when installed and used on a WordPress website.

1. Introduction

"VerseLinker" is a plugin designed to enrich the content of WordPress-based websites by automatically identifying and linking Bible verse references. The Plugin offers two main modes of operation that affect the handling of information:

  • Default Mode (Sending References to the BibliaTodo API): In this mode, when a visitor to your website places the cursor over a Bible reference linked by the Plugin, a request is sent to the BibliaTodo API (`bibliatodo.com`) to obtain the text of the corresponding verse. This interaction is described in more detail below.
  • Simple Link Mode (No Data Sending): If the website administrator chooses to disable the verse text display function (tooltip), the Plugin will simply link the Bible references to the corresponding Bible study page on `bibliatodo.com`, without sending any data to our servers or the BibliaTodo API.

2. Information that may be sent to the BibliaTodo API (Default Mode)

When the verse text display function (tooltip) is activated and a user places the cursor over a linked Bible reference, the Plugin sends only the Bible reference (for example, "John 3:16") to the BibliaTodo API.

It is important to note that:

  • No personal user information is sent: Neither the name, IP address, email, nor any other personal data of the website visitor is sent to the BibliaTodo API.
  • No website information is sent: No information about the page URL, website content, or any other data from the site where the Plugin is installed is sent.
  • No server information is sent: No information about the server hosting the website is sent.
  • The BibliaTodo API does not store the references received: The API processes the request and returns the text of the requested verse, but does not keep a record of the references received, nor of the user's activity.

3. Information that is NOT sent to the BibliaTodo API (All Modes)

Under no circumstances does the Plugin send the following information to the BibliaTodo API or any other server:

  • Personal data of website users (names, IP addresses, emails, etc.).
  • Information about the content of the website where the Plugin is installed.
  • Information about the server hosting the website.
  • Browsing data or any other tracking information.
  • Any other information from the web page.
  • Any other information from the web server.

4. Simple Link Mode (No Data Sending)

If the website administrator deactivates the verse text display function (tooltip) in the Plugin settings, absolutely no data is sent to the BibliaTodo API or any other server. In this mode, the Plugin simply converts Bible references into links to the corresponding Bible study page on `bibliatodo.com`. By clicking on the link, the user will be redirected to `bibliatodo.com`, where the general privacy policy of that site will apply.

5. Data Storage

The Plugin does not store any data, neither on the website where it is installed nor on any other server. The BibliaTodo API also does not store the Bible references received.

6. Use of the BibliaTodo API

The Plugin uses the BibliaTodo API solely to obtain the text of Bible verses when a user places the cursor over a linked reference (in default mode). The API does not receive or request any other information.

7. User Control

Website administrators have full control over the operation of the Plugin:

  • Activate or deactivate the Plugin: They can activate or deactivate the Plugin at any time from the WordPress administration panel.
  • Activate or deactivate the verse text display (tooltip): They can choose between the default mode (with sending the reference to the API) or the simple link mode (without sending data) in the Plugin settings.

8. Security

We take information security very seriously. Although the Plugin does not collect or store personal information, we follow best software development practices to ensure the security and integrity of the Plugin.

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date. Website administrators are encouraged to review this Privacy Policy periodically to be aware of any changes.
