1 Reyes 22

¹ Tres años pasaron sin guerra entre los sirios e Israel.

² Y aconteció al tercer año, que Josafat rey de Judá descendió al rey de Israel.

³ Y el rey de Israel dijo a sus siervos: ¿No sabéis que Ramot de Galaad es nuestra, y nosotros no hemos hecho nada para tomarla de mano del rey de Siria?

⁴ Y dijo a Josafat: ¿Quieres venir conmigo a pelear contra Ramot de Galaad? Y Josafat respondió al rey de Israel: Yo soy como tú, y mi pueblo como tu pueblo, y mis caballos como tus caballos.

⁵ Dijo luego Josafat al rey de Israel: Yo te ruego que consultes hoy la palabra de Jehová.

⁶ Entonces el rey de Israel reunió a los profetas, como cuatrocientos hombres, a los cuales dijo: ¿Iré a la guerra contra Ramot de Galaad, o la dejaré? Y ellos dijeron: Sube, porque Jehová la entregará en mano del rey.

⁷ Y dijo Josafat: ¿Hay aún aquí algún profeta de Jehová, por el cual consultemos?

⁸ El rey de Israel respondió a Josafat: Aún hay un varón por el cual podríamos consultar a Jehová, Micaías hijo de Imla; mas yo le aborrezco, porque nunca me profetiza bien, sino solamente mal. Y Josafat dijo: No hable el rey así.

⁹ Entonces el rey de Israel llamó a un oficial, y le dijo: Trae pronto a Micaías hijo de Imla.

¹⁰ Y el rey de Israel y Josafat rey de Judá estaban sentados cada uno en su silla, vestidos de sus ropas reales, en la plaza junto a la entrada de la puerta de Samaria; y todos los profetas profetizaban delante de ellos.

¹¹ Y Sedequías hijo de Quenaana se había hecho unos cuernos de hierro, y dijo: Así ha dicho Jehová: Con estos acornearás a los sirios hasta acabarlos.

¹² Y todos los profetas profetizaban de la misma manera, diciendo: Sube a Ramot de Galaad, y serás prosperado; porque Jehová la entregará en mano del rey.

¹³ Y el mensajero que había ido a llamar a Micaías, le habló diciendo: He aquí que las palabras de los profetas a una voz anuncian al rey cosas buenas; sea ahora tu palabra conforme a la palabra de alguno de ellos, y anuncia también buen éxito.

¹⁴ Y Micaías respondió: Vive Jehová, que lo que Jehová me hablare, eso diré.

¹⁵ Vino, pues, al rey, y el rey le dijo: Micaías, ¿iremos a pelear contra Ramot de Galaad, o la dejaremos? Él le respondió: Sube, y serás prosperado, y Jehová la entregará en mano del rey.

¹⁶ Y el rey le dijo: ¿Hasta cuántas veces he de exigirte que no me digas sino la verdad en el nombre de Jehová?

¹⁷ Entonces él dijo: Yo vi a todo Israel esparcido por los montes, como ovejas que no tienen pastor; y Jehová dijo: Estos no tienen señor; vuélvase cada uno a su casa en paz.

¹⁸ Y el rey de Israel dijo a Josafat: ¿No te lo había yo dicho? Ninguna cosa buena profetizará él acerca de mí, sino solamente el mal.

¹⁹ Entonces él dijo: Oye, pues, palabra de Jehová: Yo vi a Jehová sentado en su trono, y todo el ejército de los cielos estaba junto a él, a su derecha y a su izquierda.

²⁰ Y Jehová dijo: ¿Quién inducirá a Acab, para que suba y caiga en Ramot de Galaad? Y uno decía de una manera, y otro decía de otra.

²¹ Y salió un espíritu y se puso delante de Jehová, y dijo: Yo le induciré. Y Jehová le dijo: ¿De qué manera?

²² Él dijo: Yo saldré, y seré espíritu de mentira en boca de todos sus profetas. Y él dijo: Le inducirás, y aun lo conseguirás; ve, pues, y hazlo así.

²³ Y ahora, he aquí Jehová ha puesto espíritu de mentira en la boca de todos tus profetas, y Jehová ha decretado el mal acerca de ti.

²⁴ Entonces se acercó Sedequías hijo de Quenaana y golpeó a Micaías en la mejilla, diciendo: ¿Por dónde se fue de mí el Espíritu de Jehová para hablarte a ti?

²⁵ Y Micaías respondió: He aquí tú lo verás en aquel día, cuando te irás metiendo de aposento en aposento para esconderte.

²⁶ Entonces el rey de Israel dijo: Toma a Micaías, y llévalo a Amón gobernador de la ciudad, y a Joás hijo del rey;

²⁷ y dirás: Así ha dicho el rey: Echad a este en la cárcel, y mantenedle con pan de angustia y con agua de aflicción, hasta que yo vuelva en paz.

²⁸ Y dijo Micaías: Si llegas a volver en paz, Jehová no ha hablado por mí. En seguida dijo: Oíd, pueblos todos.

²⁹ Subió, pues, el rey de Israel con Josafat rey de Judá a Ramot de Galaad.

³⁰ Y el rey de Israel dijo a Josafat: Yo me disfrazaré, y entraré en la batalla; y tú ponte tus vestidos. Y el rey de Israel se disfrazó, y entró en la batalla.

³¹ Mas el rey de Siria había mandado a sus treinta y dos capitanes de los carros, diciendo: No peleéis ni con grande ni con chico, sino solo contra el rey de Israel.

³² Cuando los capitanes de los carros vieron a Josafat, dijeron: Ciertamente este es el rey de Israel; y vinieron contra él para pelear con él; mas el rey Josafat gritó.

³³ Viendo entonces los capitanes de los carros que no era el rey de Israel, se apartaron de él.

³⁴ Y un hombre disparó su arco a la ventura e hirió al rey de Israel por entre las junturas de la armadura, por lo que dijo él a su cochero: Da la vuelta, y sácame del campo, pues estoy herido.

³⁵ Pero la batalla había arreciado aquel día, y el rey estuvo en su carro delante de los sirios, y a la tarde murió; y la sangre de la herida corría por el fondo del carro.

³⁶ Y a la puesta del sol salió un pregón por el campamento, diciendo: ¡Cada uno a su ciudad, y cada cual a su tierra!

³⁷ Murió, pues, el rey, y fue traído a Samaria; y sepultaron al rey en Samaria.

³⁸ Y lavaron el carro en el estanque de Samaria; y los perros lamieron su sangre (y también las rameras se lavaban allí), conforme a la palabra que Jehová había hablado.

³⁹ El resto de los hechos de Acab, y todo lo que hizo, y la casa de marfil que construyó, y todas las ciudades que edificó, ¿no está escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?

⁴⁰ Y durmió Acab con sus padres, y reinó en su lugar Ocozías su hijo.

⁴¹ Josafat hijo de Asa comenzó a reinar sobre Judá en el cuarto año de Acab rey de Israel.

⁴² Era Josafat de treinta y cinco años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó veinticinco años en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre fue Azuba hija de Silhi.

⁴³ Y anduvo en todo el camino de Asa su padre, sin desviarse de él, haciendo lo recto ante los ojos de Jehová. Con todo eso, los lugares altos no fueron quitados; porque el pueblo sacrificaba aún, y quemaba incienso en ellos.

⁴⁴ Y Josafat hizo paz con el rey de Israel.

⁴⁵ Los demás hechos de Josafat, y sus hazañas, y las guerras que hizo, ¿no están escritos en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?

⁴⁶ Barrió también de la tierra el resto de los sodomitas que había quedado en el tiempo de su padre Asa.

⁴⁷ No había entonces rey en Edom; había gobernador en lugar de rey.

⁴⁸ Josafat había hecho naves de Tarsis, las cuales habían de ir a Ofir por oro; mas no fueron, porque se rompieron en Ezión-geber.

⁴⁹ Entonces Ocozías hijo de Acab dijo a Josafat: Vayan mis siervos con los tuyos en las naves. Mas Josafat no quiso.

⁵⁰ Y durmió Josafat con sus padres, y fue sepultado con ellos en la ciudad de David su padre; y en su lugar reinó Joram su hijo.

⁵¹ Ocozías hijo de Acab comenzó a reinar sobre Israel en Samaria, el año diecisiete de Josafat rey de Judá; y reinó dos años sobre Israel.

⁵² E hizo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová, y anduvo en el camino de su padre, y en el camino de su madre, y en el camino de Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, que hizo pecar a Israel;

⁵³ porque sirvió a Baal, y lo adoró, y provocó a ira a Jehová Dios de Israel, conforme a todas las cosas que había hecho su padre.

The Death of Ahab

¹ And they continued three years without war between Syria and Israel.

² And it came to pass in the third year, that Jehoshaphat the king of Judah came down to the king of Israel.

³ And the king of Israel said unto his servants, Know ye that Ramoth in Gilead is ours, and we be still, and take it not out of the hand of the king of Syria?

⁴ And he said unto Jehoshaphat, Wilt thou go with me to battle to Ramoth-gilead? And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, I am as thou art, my people as thy people, my horses as thy horses.

⁵ And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, Enquire, I pray thee, at the word of the LORD to day.

⁶ Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall I go against Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for the Lord shall deliver it into the hand of the king.

⁷ And Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we might enquire of him?

⁸ And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may enquire of the LORD: but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.

⁹ Then the king of Israel called an officer, and said, Hasten hither Micaiah the son of Imlah.

¹⁰ And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah sat each on his throne, having put on their robes, in a void place in the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before them.

¹¹ And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made him horns of iron: and he said, Thus saith the LORD, With these shalt thou push the Syrians, until thou have consumed them.

¹² And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramoth-gilead, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver it into the king's hand.

¹³ And the messenger that was gone to call Micaiah spake unto him, saying, Behold now, the words of the prophets declare good unto the king with one mouth: let thy word, I pray thee, be like the word of one of them, and speak that which is good.

¹⁴ And Micaiah said, As the LORD liveth, what the LORD saith unto me, that will I speak.

¹⁵ So he came to the king. And the king said unto him, Micaiah, shall we go against Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall we forbear? And he answered him, Go, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver it into the hand of the king.

¹⁶ And the king said unto him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou tell me nothing but that which is true in the name of the LORD?

¹⁷ And he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the hills, as sheep that have not a shepherd: and the LORD said, These have no master: let them return every man to his house in peace.

¹⁸ And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee that he would prophesy no good concerning me, but evil?

¹⁹ And he said, Hear thou therefore the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left.

²⁰ And the LORD said, Who shall persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead? And one said on this manner, and another said on that manner.

²¹ And there came forth a spirit, and stood before the LORD, and said, I will persuade him.

²² And the LORD said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so.

²³ Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil concerning thee.

²⁴ But Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah went near, and smote Micaiah on the cheek, and said, Which way went the Spirit of the LORD from me to speak unto thee?

²⁵ And Micaiah said, Behold, thou shalt see in that day, when thou shalt go into an inner chamber to hide thyself.

²⁶ And the king of Israel said, Take Micaiah, and carry him back unto Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king's son;

²⁷ and say, Thus saith the king, Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I come in peace.

²⁸ And Micaiah said, If thou return at all in peace, the LORD hath not spoken by me. And he said, Hearken, O people, every one of you.

²⁹ So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth-gilead.

³⁰ And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself, and enter into the battle; but put thou on thy robes. And the king of Israel disguised himself, and went into the battle.

³¹ But the king of Syria commanded his thirty and two captains that had rule over his chariots, saying, Fight neither with small nor great, save only with the king of Israel.

³² And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, Surely it is the king of Israel. And they turned aside to fight against him: and Jehoshaphat cried out.

³³ And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots perceived that it was not the king of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him.

³⁴ And a certain man drew a bow at a venture, and smote the king of Israel between the joints of the harness: wherefore he said unto the driver of his chariot, Turn thine hand, and carry me out of the host; for I am wounded.

³⁵ And the battle increased that day: and the king was stayed up in his chariot against the Syrians, and died at even: and the blood ran out of the wound into the midst of the chariot.

³⁶ And there went a proclamation throughout the host about the going down of the sun, saying, Every man to his city, and every man to his own country.

³⁷ So the king died, and was brought to Samaria; and they buried the king in Samaria.

³⁸ And one washed the chariot in the pool of Samaria; and the dogs licked up his blood; and they washed his armour; according unto the word of the LORD which he spake.

³⁹ Now the rest of the acts of Ahab, and all that he did, and the ivory house which he made, and all the cities that he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

⁴⁰ So Ahab slept with his fathers; and Ahaziah his son reigned in his stead.

The Two Kingdoms

⁴¹ And Jehoshaphat the son of Asa began to reign over Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel.

⁴² Jehoshaphat was thirty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and five years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.

⁴³ And he walked in all the ways of Asa his father; he turned not aside from it, doing that which was right in the eyes of the LORD: nevertheless the high places were not taken away; for the people offered and burnt incense yet in the high places.

⁴⁴ And Jehoshaphat made peace with the king of Israel.

⁴⁵ Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, and his might that he shewed, and how he warred, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

⁴⁶ And the remnant of the sodomites, which remained in the days of his father Asa, he took out of the land.

⁴⁷ There was then no king in Edom: a deputy was king.

⁴⁸ Jehoshaphat made ships of Tharshish to go to Ophir for gold: but they went not; for the ships were broken at Ezion-geber.

⁴⁹ Then said Ahaziah the son of Ahab unto Jehoshaphat, Let my servants go with thy servants in the ships. But Jehoshaphat would not.

⁵⁰ And Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father: and Jehoram his son reigned in his stead.

⁵¹ Ahaziah the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigned two years over Israel.

⁵² And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of his father, and in the way of his mother, and in the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin:

⁵³ for he served Baal, and worshipped him, and provoked to anger the LORD God of Israel, according to all that his father had done.
