MAN OF SORROWS

Meaning

Jesus took our pain.

Explication

Jesus didn't come to earth to live like a king. He came to carry the sin and the sorrows of the world so that we could enjoy the eternal joy with him and God, the Father. Jesus' delight was not born from the satisfaction of his senses, although he undoubtedly enjoyed a pleasant meal and a good night's rest. His joy was born from knowing that he was doing his Father's will. He had came to earth to rescue what was lost and he knew that the price for that ransom was pain, suffering and finally death. He was aware of his mission and the high cost of it. He knew that everyday that passed his sad end was approaching. It was a sad end for him because as a human being he had an self preservation instinct and he wanted to avoid the pain, but it was also a happy end for the human race which would enjoy eternal life thanks to Christ sufferings. Jesus' heart overflowed joy in spite of the sadness of the pain for the humankind salvation. What Jesus teaches us is that even in the middle of the pain, it is possible to be happy and to be joyful because we know that if we are in Christ, our pain has a meaning. Without Christ, the pain is a nonsense and leads us to desperation and death. We have to face the sad moments that life present us. But we have to do it confident that there is someone who loves us dearly and was "despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem"
