Jesus is our elder brother.
Christ is the firstborn from among the dead, the first fruits of a new humanity, resurrected with a new body, as our eldest brother (Hebrews 10:11) He is the heir of all things (the importance of the firstborn is related to the Passover. In the book of Exodus the angel of God passed by, and thanks to the sacrifice of a lamb, every firstborn of the Hebrews saved his life). The firstborn Christ does not necessarily mean that he was the first son of God, but that he has all the privileges of the older brother. This way , the apostle Paul is right when he says, " so that in everything he might be preeminent" (Colossians 1:18). Therefore is not an identification with the creation as if he was the most preeminent part of it, but he is presented as the firstborn of all creation, in other words, its head. So this title indicates hi position and character, not his origin.
