Y’all must not get drunk with wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead y’all should be filled with the Spirit,


“But y’all be careful, or y’all’s hearts will be weighed down with intoxication, drunkenness, and the worries of this life, and that day will come down on y’all unexpectedly like a trap.


Let us walk properly as in the day, not in hard partying and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and promiscuity, and not in quarreling and jealousy.


Woe to those who are heroes at drinking wine, and champions at mixing strong drink,


and begins to beat their fellow servants, and eat and drink with the drunkards,


“There was a rich man who dressed in purple and fine linen, happily living in luxury every day.


Not many days later, the younger son gathered all he had and traveled to a distant country. There he squandered his estate with wild living.


But look, there is joy and gladness, killing cattle and killing sheep, eating meat and drinking wine: “Let’s eat and drink, for tomorrow we will die.”


Woe to those who rise up early in the morning for beer, who stay late into the night that wine might inflame them!


Whoever keeps the law is a wise son; but he who is a companion of gluttons shames his father.


Wine is a mocker and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise.


They are to tell the elders of his city, “This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey our voice. He is a glutton and a drunkard.”


put a knife to your throat if you are a person given to appetite.


The one who loves pleasure will be poor. The one who loves wine and oil will not be rich.
