“Again you have heard that it was said to the ancients, ‘You must not make false vows, but fulfill to the Lord [YHWH] your vows,’


“If anyone commits a trespass, and sins unwittingly regarding YHWH’s holy things, then he is to bring his trespass offering to YHWH: a ram without defect from the flock, according to your estimation in silver by shekels, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, for a trespass offering.


A fool’s mouth is his destruction, and his lips are a snare to his soul.


He who answers before he hears, that is folly and shame to him.


Don’t be rash with your mouth, and don’t let your heart be hasty to utter anything before God; for God is in heaven, and you on earth. Therefore let your words be few.


But if you refrain from making a vow, it would not be sin in you.


You are to observe and do that which has gone out of your lips. Whatever you have vowed to YHWH your God as a free will offering, which you have promised with your mouth, you must do.


When you come into your neighbor’s vineyard, then you may eat your fill of grapes at your own pleasure; but you must not put any in your container.


When their fathers or their brothers come to complain to us, we will say to them, ‘Y’all be gracious to them, because we didn’t take a woman for each man in battle. Y’all didn’t give them to them, otherwise y’all would now be guilty.’”
