A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

By patience a ruler is persuaded. A soft tongue breaks the bone.


Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all wrongs.


A hot-tempered person stirs up contention, but one who is slow to anger calms strife.


An angry person stirs up strife, and a wrathful person commits many sin.


One who is greedy stirs up strife; but one who trusts in YHWH will prosper.


The men of Israel answered the men of Judah, and said, “We have ten parts in the king, and we have also more claim to David than you. Why then did you despise us, that our advice should not be first had in bringing back our king?” The words of the men of Judah were fiercer than the words of the men of Israel.


They replied, “Today If you will be a servant to this people and will serve them, and if answer them with good words, then they will be your servants forever.”


They spoke to him, saying, “If you are kind to these people and please them, and speak good words to them, then they will be your servants forever.”


Will it make many petitions to you, or will it speak soft words to you?


Mockers stir up a city, but wise men turn away anger.


After he had said this, he dismissed the assembly.
