He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for his Maker, but he who is kind to the needy honors him.

The rich and the poor have this in common: YHWH is the maker of them all.


Whoever oppresses the poor for his own increase and whoever gives to the rich, both come to poverty.


Whoever mocks the poor reproaches his Maker. Whoever is glad at calamity will not be unpunished.


The one who has pity on the poor lends to YHWH; ʜᴇ will reward them.


This commandment we have from ʜɪᴍ, that anyone who loves God should also love their sibling.


If you see the oppression of the poor, and the violent taking away of justice and righteousness in a district, don’t marvel at the matter, for one official is eyed by a higher one, and there are officials over them.


“Because of the oppression of the weak and the groaning of the needy, I will now arise,” says YHWH. “I will provide the safety they desire.”


For y’all will always have the poor among y’all, but y’all won’t always have me.”


He who despises his neighbor sins, but he who has pity on the poor is blessed.


Y’all must not wrong one another, but you are to fear your God, for I am YHWH y’all’s God.


You must not oppress a hired servant who is poor and needy, whether he is one of your brothers or one of the foreigners who are in your land within your gates.


They turn the needy out of the way. The poor of the earth all hide themselves.


He who increases his wealth by excessive interest gathers it for one who has pity on the poor.


“‘If your brother has become poor, and his hand can’t support himself among you, then you are to support him. He is to live with you like an alien and a temporary resident.
