“So he got up and went to his father. But while he was still far off, his father saw him and felt gut-wrenching sympathy, and ran, threw his arms around his neck, and kissed him.
When Jesus came ashore and saw the large crowd, he felt gut-wrenching sympathy for them because they were like sheep without a shepherd. He began to teach them many things.
Jesus didn’t let him go. Instead he said, “Go to your home and to your people, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you and how he had mercy on you.”
Therefore he had to be made like his siblings in every way, so that he could become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make atonement for the sins of the people.
