He said to them, “Y’all come with me to a secluded place and rest for a while.” For there were many people coming and going, and they had not had an opportunity to eat.
Instead, he went out and began to proclaim it freely, spreading the news. As a result, Jesus could no longer openly enter into a city, but stayed outside in lonely places. Still people came to him from everywhere.
When Jesus heard about John, he withdrew from there by boat to a solitary place by himself. Hearing this, the crowds followed him on foot from the cities.
