For the word of the Lord has reverberated out from y’all, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but your* faith in God has spread everywhere. We don’t even need to say anything,


At that time, some Pharisees came up and said to Jesus, “You must go and leave this place, because Herod wants to kill you.”


In the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, when Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea, Herod was tetrarch of Galilee, his brother Philip tetrarch of the region of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias was tetrarch of Abilene,


They told him, “John the Baptizer, and others say Elijah, and still others, one of the prophets.”


Instead, he went out and began to proclaim it freely, spreading the news. As a result, Jesus could no longer openly enter into a city, but stayed outside in lonely places. Still people came to him from everywhere.


Reports about him spread everywhere in the whole region of Galilee and its surrounding area.


But they went out and spread news about him throughout the region.


In Jerusalem, he made devices, invented by skillful men, to be on the towers and on the battlements, with which to shoot arrows and great stones. His name spread far abroad, because he was marvelously helped until he was strong.


The Ammonites gave tribute to Uzziah. His name spread abroad even to the entrance of Egypt, for he grew exceedingly strong.


They answered, “Some say ‘John the Baptizer,’ but others, ‘Elijah,’ and still others, that one of the ancient prophets has risen again.”


God also confirmed their testimony by signs and wonders, by various miracles, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.


This news about him spread throughout all of Judea and the surrounding region.
