They clothed him with purple, then weaved a crown of thorns and put it on him.
Herod with his soldiers humiliated and mocked him, dressed him in a sumptuous robe, and sent him back to Pilate.
The soldiers led him away within the court (that is, the Praetorium), and they called together the whole cohort.
They began to salute him, “Hail, King of the Jews!”
