Then the Jews began to grumble about him, because he said, “I am the bread which came down from heaven.”
I am the bread of life.
For the bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven and gives life to the world.”
There was much murmuring among the multitudes concerning him. Some said, “He is a good man.” Others said, “Not so, he leads the multitude astray.”
At this, many of his disciples turned back and no longer walked with him.
When they heard this, many of his disciples said, “This is a hard saying! Who can understand it?”
These are grumblers and complainers, following after their desires. Their mouths speak proud things, flattering people to gain advantage.
This is the bread that came down from heaven—not as our ancestors ate the manna and died. The one who eats this bread will live forever.”
So Jesus answered them and said, “Y’all must stop grumbling to each other.
When the people saw this, they all began to complain, “He has gone in to be the guest of a man who is a sinner.”
The Pharisees and scribes were complaining, “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.”
But the Pharisees and their scribes complained to his disciples, “Why do you eat and drink with the tax collectors and sinners?”
Y’all don’t grumble, as some of them did, and perished by the destroying angel.
This is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, “Who are you?”
