Gideon sent messengers throughout all the hill country of Ephraim, saying, “Y’all come down against Midian and capture the waters before them as far as Beth Barah, even the Jordan!” So all the men of Ephraim were gathered together and took the waters as far as Beth Barah, even the Jordan.
They came to John and said to him, “Rabbi, the man who was with you beyond the Jordan, of whom you have testified—Look, he is baptizing, and everyone is going to him.”
