Don’t y’all have houses to eat and to drink in? Or do y’all despise the church of God and humiliate those who don’t have enough? What should I say to y’all? Should I praise y’all? I do not praise this.
Look! The wages of the laborers who mowed y’all’s fields, which y’all have kept back by fraud, cry out against y’all. The cries of the harvesters have entered into the ears of the Lord of Armies.
and y’all pay special attention to one wearing fine clothes and y’all say, “You sit here in a good place,” but y’all tell the poor person, “You stand over there,” or “Sit by my footstool,”
When they didn’t find them, they dragged Jason and some of the siblings before the city officials, shouting, “These men who have stirred up trouble all around the world have now come here,
But the Jews incited the prominent God-fearing women and the prominent men of the city, and stirred up a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and threw them out of their region.
Therefore, because y’all trample on the poor and take a wheat tax, though y’all have built houses of cut stone, y’all will never dwell in them. Y’all have planted pleasant vineyards, but y’all will not drink their wine.
If you see the oppression of the poor, and the violent taking away of justice and righteousness in a district, don’t marvel at the matter, for one official is eyed by a higher one, and there are officials over them.
Y’all must listen to this word, cows of Bashan, who are on the mountain of Samaria, who oppress the poor, who crush the needy, who tell their husbands, “Bring us drinks!”
