Now I want to remind y’all–even though y’all already know it–that after the Lord saved a people out of the land of Egypt, he later destroyed those who didn’t believe.
Beloved, while I was very eager to write to y’all about our common salvation, I felt compelled to write exhorting y’all to contend earnestly for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints.
Therefore, beloved, since y’all know these things beforehand, be on guard so that y’all won’t be led astray by the error of the wicked, and fall from your* firm condition.
Through Silvanus, our faithful sibling, as I consider him, I have written to y’all briefly, exhorting and testifying that this is the true grace of God. Stand firm in it, y’all!
But after y’all have suffered a little while, may the God of all grace, who called y’all to his eternal glory in Christ, restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish y’all.
Y’all must not be carried away by various strange teachings. It is beautiful for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by ceremonial foods, which do not benefit those who observe them.
By pointing out these things to the siblings, you will be an excellent deacon of Christ Jesus, nourished in the words of the faith and the excellent teaching you have followed.
