At the return of the year, King Nebuchadnezzar sent and brought him to Babylon, with the valuable vessels of the house of YHWH, and made Zedekiah his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem.

Zedekiah the son of Josiah reigned as king instead of Coniah the son of Jehoiakim, whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon made king in the land of Judah.


Nebuchadnezzar also carried some of the vessels of the house of YHWH to Babylon, and put them in his temple at Babylon.


but have lifted up yourself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before you, and you and your lords, your wives, and your concubines, have drunk wine from them. ‘Some of your descendants, who come from you, whom you father, will be taken from away, and they will become eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.’”


Moreover I will give all the riches of this city, and all its gains, and all its precious things, yes, I will give all the treasures of the kings of Judah into the hand of their enemies. They will plunder them, seize them, and carry them to Babylon.


Then I spoke to the priests and to all this people, saying, YHWH says, “Y’all must not listen to the words of your* prophets who prophesy to y’all, saying, ‘Look, the vessels of the house of YHWH will be brought back from Babylon very soon.’ They are prophesying a lie to y’all.


Within two full years I will bring again into this place all the vessels of the house of YHWH that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took away from this place and carried to Babylon.


Yes, they scoff at kings, and princes are a derision to them. They laugh at every stronghold, for they build up an earthen ramp and take it.


It grew and became a spreading vine of low stature, whose branches turned toward him, and its roots were under him. So it became a vine, produced branches, and shot out sprigs.
