Don’t y’all know what I and my predecessors have done to all the peoples of the lands? Were the gods of the nations of those lands able to deliver-deliver their land out of my hand?
And y’all see and hear that this Paul has convinced and turned many people, not just here in Ephesus, but almost all throughout Asia. He says that gods that made with human hands are not gods.
Because of the greatness that he gave him, all the peoples, nations, and languages trembled and feared before him. He killed whom he wanted to, and he kept alive whom he wanted to. He raised up whom he wanted to, and he put down whom he wanted to.

Who among all the gods of those nations that my predecessors completely destroyed was able to deliver his people from my hand? Why should y’all’s God be able to deliver y’all from my hand?
