YHWH stirred up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines and of the Arabians who are beside the Ethiopians;


They were helped against them, and the Hagrites were delivered into their hand, and all who were with them; for they cried to God in the battle, and he answered them because they put their trust in him.


And so, having received help from God to this day, I stand and testify to both small and great, saying nothing other than what the prophets and Moses said would happen:


Don’t rejoice, O Philistia, all of you, because the rod that struck you is broken; for out of the serpent’s root an adder will emerge, and his fruit will be a fiery flying serpent.


For with you, I can run against a troop, and with my God, I leap over a wall.


After this, the children of Moab, the children of Ammon, and with them some of the Ammonites, came against Jehoshaphat to battle.


Some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents and silver for tribute. The Arabians also brought him flocks: seven thousand seven hundred rams and seven thousand seven hundred male goats.


Asa cried to YHWH his God, and said, “YHWH, there is no one besides you to help, between the mighty and him who has no strength. Help us, YHWH our God; for we rely on you, and in your name are we come against this multitude. YHWH, you are our God. Don’t let man prevail against you.”


Then the Spirit came on Amasai, who was chief of the thirty, and he said, “We are yours, David, and on your side, you son of Jesse. Peace, peace be to you, and peace be to your helpers; for your God helps you.” Then David received them and made them captains of the band.


These written by name came in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and struck their tents and the Meunim who were found there; and they destroyed them utterly to this day, and lived in their place, because there was pasture there for their flocks.


For many fell slain, because the war was of God. They lived in their place until the captivity.


Then Asa went out to meet him, and they set the battle in array in the valley of Zephathah at Mareshah.


But if you will go, take action, and be strong for the battle. God will overthrow you before the enemy; for God has power to help, and to overthrow.”
