She looked, and there was the king, standing by his pillar at the entrance, with the captains and the trumpeters by the king. All the people of the land rejoiced and blew trumpets. The singers also played musical instruments, and led the singing of praise. Then Athaliah tore her clothes, and said, “Treason! treason!”

For no one knows their time. As the fish that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare, even so are the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falls suddenly on them.


When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice; but when the wicked rule, the people groan.


When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices. When the wicked perish, there is shouting.


There they were in fear and terror, for God is with the righteous generation.


The king stood in his place and made a covenant before YHWH, to walk after YHWH, and to keep his commandments, his testimonies, and his statutes with all his heart and with all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant that were written in this book.

Joram turned his hands and fled, and said to Ahaziah, “This is treason, Ahaziah!”


Then they hurried, and each man took his cloak, and put it under him on the top of the stairs, and blew the trumpet, saying, “Jehu is king.”


So the people took food in their hand, and their trumpets; and he sent all the rest of the men of Israel to their own tents, but retained the three hundred men; and the camp of Midian was beneath him in the valley.

When Athaliah heard the noise of the people running and praising the king, she came to the people into the house of YHWH.


Jehoiada the priest brought out the captains of hundreds who were set over the army, and said to them, “Y’all bring her outside the temple between the ranks, and whoever follows her, put to death with a sword.” For the priest said, “Y’all must not kill her in the house of YHWH.”


The prince is to enter by the way of the porch on the gate outside and stand by the post of the gate. Then the priests are to prepare his burnt offering and his peace offerings, and he is to worship at the threshold of the gate and go out. But the gate will not be closed until evening.
