David the king said to all the assembly, “Solomon my son, whom alone God has chosen, is yet young and tender, and the work is great; for the palace is not for man, but for YHWH God.
Though this house is so high, yet everyone who passes by it will be astonished and hiss; and they will say, ‘Why has YHWH done this to this land and to this house?’
As for the beauty of his ornament, he set it in majesty; but they made the images of their abominations and their detestable things therein. Therefore I have made it to them as an unclean thing.
But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly as this? For all things come from you, and we have given you of your own.
“But will God indeed dwell with men on the earth? Even heaven and the heaven of heavens can’t contain you. How much less this house which I have built!
My sons, y’all must not be negligent now; for YHWH has chosen y’all to stand before ʜɪᴍ, to serve ʜɪᴍ, and that y’all should be ʜɪꜱ ministers and burn incense.”
