Moreover in Jerusalem Jehoshaphat appointed certain Levites, priests, and heads of the fathers’ households of Israel to give judgment for YHWH and for controversies. They returned to Jerusalem.
But I tell y’all that everyone who is enraged with their sibling will be subject to judgment. Whoever calls their sibling, ‘You good-for-nothing!’ will be in danger of the council. Whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.
Moreover you should select from all the people able men who fear God, men of truth who hate unjust gain. Appoint them as rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.
Y’all must not show partiality in judgment. Y’all are to listen to the small and the great alike. Y’all must not be afraid of the face of man, for the judgment is God’s. If a case is too hard for y’all, y’all may bring to me, and I will hear it.”
