Then Asa was angry with the seer, and put him in the prison; for he was in a rage with him because of this thing. Asa oppressed some of the people at the same time.


The earth dwellers will rejoice over them, and they will be glad. They will give gifts to one another, because the two prophets tortured the earth dwellers.

Though the Lord may give y’all the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your Teacher won’t be hidden any more, but your eyes will see your teachers.


A wise person fears and shuns evil, but the fool is hot headed and reckless.


For I have eaten ashes like bread, and mixed my drink with tears,


You have fed them with the bread of tears, and given them tears to drink in large measure.


His ways are prosperous at all times. He is arrogant, and your laws are far from his sight. As for all his adversaries, he sneers at them.


The king said to him, “How many times should I adjure you that you speak to me nothing but the truth in the name of YHWH?”


Now David had said, “Surely in vain I have guarded all that this fellow has in the wilderness, so that nothing was missed of all that pertained to him. He has returned me evil for good.


When such a person hears the words of this curse, he bless himself in his heart, saying, “I will have peace, even though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart.” This will destroy the moist and the dry land.


Others were tried by mocking and scourging, yes, even chains and imprisonment.


The officials were angry with Jeremiah, and beat him, and put him in prison in the house of Jonathan the scribe, which they had made into a prison.


The king commanded Jerahmeel the king’s son, and Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to arrest Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet, but YHWH hid them.
