Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.
“Isn’t YHWH y’all’s God with y’all? Hasn’t ʜᴇ given y’all rest on every side? For he has delivered the inhabitants of the land into my hand, and the land is subdued before YHWH and before ʜɪꜱ people.
Hᴇ said, “Certainly I will be with you. This will be the sign that I have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, y’all will serve God on this mountain.”
“How can you say, ‘I am not defiled. I have not gone after the Baals’? See your way in the valley. Know what you have done. You are a swift dromedary traversing her ways,
He went out to meet Asa, and said to him, “Y’all listen to me, Asa and all Judah and Benjamin! YHWH is with y’all while y’all are with ʜɪᴍ. If y’all seek him, ʜᴇ will be found by y’all, but if y’all abandon him, ʜᴇ will abandon y’all.
Asa cried to YHWH his God, and said, “YHWH, there is no one besides you to help, between the mighty and him who has no strength. Help us, YHWH our God; for we rely on you, and in your name are we come against this multitude. YHWH, you are our God. Don’t let man prevail against you.”
Ahaz was twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. He didn’t do that which was right in YHWH his God’s eyes, like David his father.
When YHWH raised up judges for them, then YHWH was with the judge, and saved them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge; for it grieved YHWH because of their groaning by reason of those who oppressed them and troubled them.
He walked in all the way of Asa his father. He didn’t turn away from it, doing that which was right in YHWH’s eyes. However, the high places were not taken away. The people still sacrificed and burned incense on the high places.
He placed forces in all the fortified cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah and in the cities of Ephraim, which Asa his father had taken.
A letter came to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, “YHWH, the God of David your father, says, ‘Because you have not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat your father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Judah,
David went out wherever Saul sent him, and behaved himself wisely, and Saul set him over the men of war. It was good in the sight of all the people, and also in the sight of Saul’s servants.
He sought Ahaziah, and they caught him (now he was hiding in Samaria), and they brought him to Jehu and killed him; and they buried him, for they said, “He is the son of Jehoshaphat, who sought YHWH with all his heart.” The house of Ahaziah had no power to hold the kingdom.
