In the thirty-sixth year of Asa’s reign, Baasha king of Israel went up against Judah, and built Ramah, that he might not allow anyone to go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.
He gathered all Judah and Benjamin, and those who lived with them out of Ephraim, Manasseh, and Simeon; for they came to him out of Israel in abundance when they saw that YHWH his God was with him.
If this people goes up to offer sacrifices in the house of YHWH at Jerusalem, then the heart of this people will turn again to their lord, even to Rehoboam king of Judah; and they will kill me, and return to Rehoboam king of Judah.”
Then Asa brought out silver and gold out of the treasures of the house of YHWH and of the king’s house, and sent to Ben Hadad king of Syria, who lived at Damascus, saying,
Now the cistern in which Ishmael threw all the dead bodies of the men whom he had killed along with Gedaliah was the one that Asa the king had made for fear of Baasha king of Israel. Ishmael the son of Nethaniah filled it with those who were killed.
The word that came to Jeremiah from YHWH, after Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard released him from Ramah. He found him bound in chains among all the captives of Jerusalem and Judah who were carried away captive to Babylon.
