But inasmuch as y’all share in the suffering of Christ, y’all should rejoice so that at the revelation of his glory y’all may rejoice with exceeding joy.
But after y’all have suffered a little while, may the God of all grace, who called y’all to his eternal glory in Christ, restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish y’all.
I John, y’all’s sibling and partner in the tribulation, the empire, and the perseverance that are in Jesus, was on the island called Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.
Therefore, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ and as one who will share in the glory to be revealed, I exhort the elders among y’all:
Now I rejoice in my sufferings for y’all’s sake, and fill up on my part what is lacking of Christ’s oppressions in my flesh for his body’s sake, which is the church.
Then YHWH’s ransomed ones will return, and come with singing to Zion; and everlasting joy will be on their heads. They will obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.”
Therefore, tightening a belt around y’all’s thoughts and being fully sober-minded, set your* hope fully on the grace that will be brought to y’all at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
“Then the King will tell those on his right, ‘Come, y’all who are blessed of my Father, inherit the empire prepared for y’all from the foundation of the world;
“His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful with a few things. I will put you in charge of many things. Enter into the joy of your master.’
“His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful over a few things, I will put you in charge of many things. Enter into the joy of your master.’
Those ransomed by YHWH will return, and come with singing to Zion. Everlasting joy will be on their heads. They will obtain gladness and joy. Sorrow and sighing will flee away.
It will be said in that day, “Look, this is our God! We have waited for ʜɪᴍ, and ʜᴇ will save us! This is YHWH! We have waited for ʜɪᴍ. We will be glad and rejoice in his salvation!”
Look! He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him. All the tribes of the earth will mourn over him. Yes, Amen.
For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Humanity also will be ashamed of them when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.”
