Therefore, since Christ suffered in the flesh, y’all should arm yourselves* also with the same attitude, because the one who has suffered in the flesh has finished with sin,
strengthening the souls of the disciples and encouraging them to continue in the faith, saying, “We must go through many persecutions to enter the Empire of God.”
For Christ also suffered for sins once, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring y’all to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the Spirit.
Y’all are not to return evil for evil or insult for insult, but instead give a blessing, because y’all were called so that y’all would inherit a blessing.
For it was fitting for ʜɪᴍ, for whom and through whom all things exist, in bringing many sons and daughters to glory, to make the author of their salvation perfect through sufferings.
But inasmuch as y’all share in the suffering of Christ, y’all should rejoice so that at the revelation of his glory y’all may rejoice with exceeding joy.
