But when John in bonds had heard the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples,

But in the day of Herod’s birth, the daughter of Herodias danced in the middle, and pleased Herod.

But when Jesus had heard that John was taken, he went into Galilee.

And king Herod heard, for his name was made open, and he said, That John Baptist hath risen again from death, and therefore virtues work in him.

For that Herod sent, and held John, and bound him into prison, for Herodias, the wife of Philip, his brother; for he had wedded her.

And Herodias laid ambush to him, and would slay him, and might not.

And when the daughter of that Herodias was come in, and danced, and pleased to Herod [or and pleased Herod], and also to men that sat at the meat, the king said to the damsel, Ask thou of me what thou wilt, and I shall give to thee.

And he commanded [to] them, and said, See ye, and beware of the sourdough of the Pharisees, and of the sourdough of Herod.

And some men were present in that time, that told to him of the Galileans, whose blood Pilate mingled with the sacrifices of them.

In that day some of the Pharisees came nigh, and said to him, Go out, and go from hence, for Herod will slay thee.

But Herod with his host despised him, and scorned him, and clothed him with a white cloth, and sent him again to Pilate.

And when he knew that he was of the power of Herod, he sent him to Herod; which was [or he was] at Jerusalem in those days.

In the fifteenth year of the empire of Tiberius, the emperor, when Pilate of Pontii governed Judea, and Herod was prince of Galilee, and Philip, his brother, was prince of Ituraea, and of the country of Trachonitis, and Lysanias was prince of Abilene,

and Joanna, the wife of Chuza, the procurator of Herod, and Susanna, and many others, that ministered to him of their riches.

And in the same time Herod the king sent power, [or hands], to torment some men of the church.

For verily, Herod and Pontius Pilate, with heathen men, and peoples of Israel, came together in this city against thine holy child Jesus, whom thou anointedest,
