If we say of men, we dread the people, for all had John as a prophet.

And when this thing was heard, the princes of priests, and [the] scribes sought how they should lose him; for they dreaded him, for all the people wondered on his teaching.

And in like manner be these that be sown on stony places, which when they have heard the word, anon they take it with joy;

He was a lantern burning and shining, [or giving light]; but ye would glad, or joy, at an hour in his light.

And all were astonied, and wondered, saying together, What will this thing be?

And as the magistrates of the temple, and the princes of priests heard these words, they doubted of them, what was done.
