But other seeds felled into stony places, where they had not much earth; and anon they sprung up, for they had not deepness of earth.

But these it be that be about the way, where the word is sown; and when they have heard, anon cometh Satan, and taketh away the word that is sown in their hearts.

and they have not root in them-selves, but they be lasting a little time [or they be temporal]; afterward when tribulation riseth, and persecution for the word, anon they be caused to stumble.
