I wash you in water, into penance; but he that shall come after me is stronger than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear; he shall baptize [or christen] you in the Holy Ghost, and [in] fire.
And they came to John, and said to him, Master [or Rabbi], he that was with thee beyond [or over] Jordan, to whom thou hast borne witnessing, lo! he baptizeth, and all men come to him.
And Paul said, John baptized the people in the baptism of penance, and taught, that they should believe in him that was to coming [or to come] after him, that is, in Jesus.
