And when he came into the temple, the princes of priests, and elder men of the people, came to him that taught, and said, In what power doest thou these things? and who gave [to] thee this power?
In that hour Jesus said to the people, As to a thief ye have gone out, with swords and bats [or staves], to take me; day by day I sat among you, and taught in the temple, and ye held me not.
And when this thing was heard, the princes of priests, and [the] scribes sought how they should lose him; for they dreaded him, for all the people wondered on his teaching.
Pask and the feast of therf loaves was after two days. And the high priests and the scribes sought, how they should hold him with guile, and slay [him].
And the princes of priests, and [the] scribes, sought to lay on him hands [or to lay hands on him] in that hour, and they dreaded the people; for they knew that to them he said this likeness.
Jesus answered to him, I have spoken openly to the world; I taught evermore in the synagogue, and in the temple, whither all the Jews came together, and in huddles [or in private] I spake nothing.
