And when they had passed [over] Jordan, they came into Aroer, to the right side of the city that is in the valley of Gad; and they passed forth by Jazer
From Aroer, which is on the brink of the strand [or the stream] of Arnon, from the town which is set in the valley, unto Gilead, no town was, nor city, that escaped our hands. Our Lord God betook all to us;
Sihon, the king of Amorites, that dwelled in Heshbon, was lord from Aroer, which is set on the brink of the strand [or stream] of Arnon, and of the middle part in the valley, and of half Gilead, till to the strand [or stream] of Jabbok, which is the term of the sons of Ammon;
when Israel dwelled in Heshbon, and in [the] towns thereof, and in Aroer, and in towns thereof, and in all [the] cities beyond Jordan, by three hundred years. Why in so much time assayed ye nothing on this asking again?
And the man said to Eli, I am he that came from the battle, and I am he that fled today from the battle array. To whom Eli said, My son, what is there done?
