Forsooth the Lord said to Aaron, Go thou into the coming of Moses into desert; which went against Moses into the hill of God, and kissed him.

Forsooth after ten days the cheers of them appeared better and fatter, than all the children that ate the king’s meat.

And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward he hungered.

And he was in desert forty days and forty nights, and was tempted of Satan, and he was with beasts, and angels ministered to him.

forty days, and was tempted of the devil, and [he] ate nothing in those days; and when those days were ended, he hungered.

And he said to me, My grace sufficeth to thee; for virtue is perfectly made in infirmity. Therefore gladly I shall glory in mine infirmities, that the virtue of Christ dwell in me.

And I felled down before the Lord as before, in forty days and forty nights, and I ate not bread, and drank not water, for all your sins which ye did against the Lord, and stirred him to great wrath;
