But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised by the people.

The LORD, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, says to him whom man despises, to him whom the nation abhors, to a servant of rulers: “Kings shall see and rise up, princes, and they shall worship, because of the LORD who is faithful, even the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you.”

He was despised and rejected by men, a man of suffering and acquainted with disease. He was despised as one from whom men hide their face; and we didn’t respect him.

At that time, Herod the tetrarch heard the report concerning Yeshua,

For Herod had arrested Yochanan, bound him, and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife.

But when Herod’s birthday came, the daughter of Herodias danced amongst them and pleased Herod.

He said to them, “Elijah indeed comes first, and restores all things. How is it written about the Son of Man, that he should suffer many things and be despised?

The chief priests and the scribes stood, vehemently accusing him.

Yeshua therefore came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple garment. Pilate said to them, “Behold, the man!”

For if a man with a gold ring, in fine clothing, comes into your synagogue, and a poor man in filthy clothing also comes in,

and you pay special attention to him who wears the fine clothing and say, “Sit here in a good place;” and you tell the poor man, “Stand there,” or “Sit by my footstool”
