Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners. Purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Abraham came near, and said, “Will you consume the righteous with the wicked?

You, Solomon my son, know the God of your father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind; for the LORD searches all hearts, and understands all the imaginations of the thoughts. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will cast you off forever.

He went out to meet Asa, and said to him, “Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin! The LORD is with you while you are with him; and if you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will forsake you.

although there is no violence in my hands, and my prayer is pure.

Yet the righteous will hold to his way. He who has clean hands will grow stronger and stronger.

If I wash myself with snow, and cleanse my hands with lye,

I hate double-minded men, but I love your Torah.

The LORD is near to all those who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.

The LORD has rewarded me according to my righteousness. According to the cleanness of my hands, he has recompensed me.

He who has clean hands and a pure heart; who has not lifted up his soul to falsehood, and has not sworn deceitfully.

I will wash my hands in innocence, so I will go about your altar, LORD,

Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me.

Surely I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocence,

But it is good for me to come close to God. I have made the Lord GOD my refuge, that I may tell of all your works.

Everyone who is found will be thrust through. Everyone who is captured will fall by the sword.

The Lord said, “Because this people draws near with their mouth and honours me with their lips, but they have removed their heart far from me, and their fear of me is a commandment of men which has been taught;

Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways. As a nation that did righteousness, and didn’t forsake the ordinance of their God, they ask of me righteous judgements. They delight to draw near to God.

At that time it will be said to this people and to Jerusalem, “A hot wind blows from the bare heights in the wilderness towards the daughter of my people, not to winnow, nor to cleanse.

Jerusalem, wash your heart from wickedness, that you may be saved. How long will your evil thoughts lodge within you?

You came near in the day that I called on you. You said, “Don’t be afraid.”

Cast away from you all your transgressions in which you have transgressed; and make yourself a new heart and a new spirit. For why will you die, house of Israel?

Therefore tell them, the LORD of Hosts says: ‘Return to me,’ says the LORD of Hosts, ‘and I will return to you,’ says the LORD of Hosts.

From the days of your fathers you have turned away from my ordinances and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you,” says the LORD of Hosts. “But you say, ‘How shall we return?’

“Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree corrupt and its fruit corrupt; for the tree is known by its fruit.

“Why do your disciples disobey the tradition of the elders? For they don’t wash their hands when they eat bread.”

So when Pilate saw that nothing was being gained, but rather that a disturbance was starting, he took water and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, “I am innocent of the blood of this righteous person. You see to it.”

He made no distinction between us and them, cleansing their hearts by faith.

Having therefore these promises, beloved, let’s cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

I desire therefore that the men in every place pray, lifting up holy hands without anger and doubting.

let’s draw near with a true heart in fullness of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and having our body washed with pure water,

(for the law made nothing perfect), and a bringing in of a better hope, through which we draw near to God.

He is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceful, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

Seeing you have purified your souls in your obedience to the truth through the Spirit in sincere brotherly affection, love one another from the heart fervently,

This is a symbol of immersion, which now saves you—not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience towards God—through the resurrection of Yeshua the Messiah,

Everyone who has this hope set on him purifies himself, even as he is pure.

Saul built an altar to the LORD. This was the first altar that he built to the LORD.
