Ezekiel 28:2

Word of Yahweh

Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Sovereign Yahweh; Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a El, I sit in the seat of Elohim, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art a man, and not El, though thou set thine heart as the heart of Elohim:

For Elohim doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as Elohim, knowing good and evil.

But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction: for he transgressed against Yahweh his Elohim, and went into the temple of Yahweh to burn incense upon the altar of incense.

Put them in fear, O Yahweh: that the nations may know themselves to be but men. Selah.

Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour is humility.

Now the Egyptians are men, and not El; and their horses flesh, and not spirit. When Yahweh shall stretch out his hand, both he that helpeth shall fall, and he that is helped shall fall down, and they all shall fail together.

Therefore hear now this, thou that art given to pleasures, that dwellest carelessly, that sayest in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me; I shall not sit as a widow, neither shall I know the loss of children:

Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.

And they shall take up a lamentation for thee, and say to thee, How art thou destroyed, that wast inhabited of seafaring men, the renowned city, which wast strong in the sea, she and her inhabitants, which cause their terror to be on all that haunt it

The word of Yahweh came again unto me, saying,

Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.

Wilt thou yet say before him that slayeth thee, I am Elohim? but thou shalt be a man, and no El, in the hand of him that slayeth thee.

Speak, and say, Thus saith the Sovereign Yahweh; Behold, I am against thee, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great dragon that lieth in the midst of his rivers, which hath said, My river is mine own, and I have made it for myself.

And the land of Egypt shall be desolate and waste; and they shall know that I am Yahweh: because he hath said, The river is mine, and I have made it.

Therefore thus saith the Sovereign Yahweh; Because thou hast lifted up thyself in height, and he hath shot up his top among the thick boughs, and his heart is lifted up in his height;

And when he hath taken away the multitude, his heart shall be lifted up; and he shall cast down many ten thousands: but he shall not be strengthened by it.

And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every el, and shall speak marvellous things against the El of elim, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done.

Neither shall he regard the Elohim of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any eloah: for he shall magnify himself above all.

Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.

This is the rejoicing city that dwelt carelessly, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none beside me: how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in every one that passeth by her shall hiss, and wag his hand.

And Hamath also shall border thereby; Tyrus, and Zidon, though it be very wise.

And he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, Give this man place; and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room.

Then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget Yahweh thy Elohim, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage;

Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called Elohim, or that is worshipped; so that he sitteth in the temple of Elohim, showing himself that he is Yahweh.

Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.

Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for Elohim resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

How much she hath extolled herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.
